In 2023 the West Virginia State Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) published the Genealogical, Burial and Service Data for Revolutionary War Patriots buried in West Virginia.  Historic Shepherdstown took the data for those persons buried in Shepherdstown, and with the help of Jefferson County Office of GIS and Addressing, created an interactive map of the five local cemeteries where patriots are buried. See  Shepherdstown Burials of Revolutionary War Patriots

The map lists those who provided Revolutionary War service, and the DAR considers as a patriot as one performing not only military service but also patriotic and civil service. For this reason,  both Henry Bedinger and Mary Margaret Slagle Bedinger, buried in the old Episcopal Graveyard,  are listed as Patriots

Major Henry Bedinger Jr.
Birth: 1753, Death: 1843
Place of Birth: York, PA
Note: Captain Virginia: Captain Hugh Stevenson; Captain Abraham Shepherd, Colonel Hugh Stevenson, Lieutenant Colonel Moses Rawlings, 5th and 6th regiments, Continental Line, POW.

Mary Margaret Slagle Bedinger
Birth: 1730, Death: after 1797
Place of Birth: PA
Note: It was at her home near Shepherdstown that the gathering for the Bee Line March took place 25th May, 1775. She furnished supplies.

The map is searchable by name and also by cemetery.  Find the patriot you are interested in and then click on the cemetery of the map which will open with others  buried there and the birth, death data and what services each provided. Few of the soldiers who took part in the Bee Line March were buried in Shepherdstown.

Our thanks to Cheryll Brown and the DAR, Pack Horse Ford Chapter and to Jefferson County Office of GIS and Addressing.
