Volunteer Opportunities

Historic Shepherdstown and Museum is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization.  It depends on the volunteer efforts of the community to keep the Landmark Entler and Museum operating.  There are many ways volunteers are needed.  If you feel you would like to be involved as a volunteer, please contact us at 304-876-0910.  If you don't see an area listed that you feel your gifts and talents could be used we would love to hear from you.

Museum Docent

The Historic Shepherdstown Museums Season is April through October. The hours of operations for the Museum are Saturday 11-5 and Sunday 1-4.  Docents are asked to work one 3 hour shift, either 11-2 or 2-5 on Saturdays or 1-4 on Sundays, once a month. Docents will be trained in the duties of their position and the history of the town.   If you love talking to people and being an ambassador for the museum and town, you will be perfect.

Museum Committee Member

The museum committee meets on Monday and Wednesday in the morning. The main function of the museum committee is to accession artifacts, organize museum displays, develop new displays and care for artifacts.

Children Programs

Museum programs for children's as needed.

Genealogy

Working to put genealogy information into the computer for research.  Hours are up to the volunteer.

Garden

The Entler is always in need of those who love to play in the garden tending to plants, weeding and general maintenance.

Building Maintenance

The oldest portion of the Entler was built in 1786 and is always in need of minor repairs.  If you are a handy man and would like to help with painting, and small repairs we would love to have your help.

Please call Cheryl at 304-876-0910 or email hsc86@citlink.net for more information on any volunteer help you would like to offer.
